Hello Families,
I have decided to pursue the process of becoming licensed through Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). What does this mean to you... It means that I will be operating under VIHA instead of Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR). VIHA conducts interviews, house inspections, program oversight, as well as many other regulatory processes. It also allows me more flexibility in accommodating a larger group of children. My reason for doing this is not to increase the number of children in my care at one time, as I believe that quality care in my program cannot exist with a large group of children. I want to be able to accommodate more families requiring part time care while keeping children currently looking for full time. Essentially it gives me some more flexibility in who I can accept on a day to day basis. It further provides me with more support and resources to continue to grow as an educator and enhance my program for the children! The process is lenghty and can take a few months to complete. I am hopeful I will be licensed in March and will keep you all updated as best I can! Thank you for your continued support! Jamie Newman Hello,
Winter seems to be taking us by storm this February! The children are enjoying the different weather systems that we are getting and embrace each one with enthusiasm and excitement. The rain and wind certainly don't deter them from getting their gear on and exploring the beautiful outdoors. The snow, well that is a lovely surprise when it happens and children light up with excitement. It is a race to get our outside gear on and get outside before it all melts. Children learn through play and a child's play is his/her work. Getting outside is the best source of learning and exploration we can provide as educators. Outside experiences are filled with endless teachable moments that encompass skills such as science, math, language development, and imaginative play! I am proud to say that my daughter has introduced me to her "new" friend Jonathan; I cannot see him but she assures me he is there and plays very well! Lets embrace this weather and get outside, jump in the puddles, hide from the wind, and welcome the snow! Happy Island Winter! Hello Friends,
Well December is here and we are ready for snowman crafts, painting ornaments, and baking rice krispie trees. The excitement of the holidays is always so very magical and I look forward to sharing that with the children! I am also happy to say that I now have a spot available for a child of the age 3 or 4 years old starting Janurary 2014. This spot can be part time or full time. Please contact me for more information! Cheers, Jamie Hello,
